• Raise the Bar Cocktail Event: Review

If you read my last blog post you might be wondering how Raise the Bar’s first cocktail night panned out… I can’t remember… Well, I can for the most part and it was everything I had hoped for plus a massive hangover. (Probably my fault since I went to The Shed after!) We started the night with a couple of cocktails then on to the rum cocktail station. Dillon showed us how to make the Mangoes to Cuba cocktail and then we made some ourselves. These stations are as interactive as you want them to be & there’s help at hand if you forget the ingredients! After this, I made…

  • Summer cocktails at The Spiritualist!

The Spiritualist on Miller Street is known for its exciting & inventive cocktails so I was more than happy to visit & try some from their new drinks menu! The building is modern but relaxed & this is reflected in their quality, well constructed beverages. You can read about my last visit here. To start we tried a teapot cocktail to share. This gin based mix has a summery feel with the mixed berries & hint of tea… I guess it’s a dry-iced tea if you get what I mean? I’m a sucker for a gimmick but the cooling effect of the dry ice makes this drink something really special!…

  • Chambord’s summer party at The Social

It’s finally the bank holiday & the weather forecast is actually decent. I would strongly suggest that you head over to The Social as Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur is hosting a very special summer party. ? The party will take place on Saturday 5th May from 12-5pm, so this will be an event you don’t want to miss! The Social’s summer terrace will be open for you to enjoy the weather & to sip on a Chambord cocktail. • The Spiritualist: Forecasting this years spirit trends

Have you ever considered how on season your drinks choices are? After seeing a million insta pics of Pornstar Martinis, the same old gets boring! The Spiritualist bar on Miller Street have forecasted four trends that they believe we’ll be seeing more of in 2018. Here’s a sneak peek of what this year has in store. 1. Grown up soft drinks It’s no secret that sophisticated soft drinks have been on the rise over the past few years, I myself am partial to a rose lemonade. Franklin & Sons is a great representation of a tasty low calorie soft drink that’s ideal for designated drivers but can also be used…

  • Sailor Jerry’s Open House

For one month only, Sailor Jerry has arrived in Glasgow for a series of pop up events in an abandoned industrial building in Finnieston. I was lucky to get invited to the sold out opening event with a special performance by Honeyblood. It was amazing to see them live at this small, special event. Rum, good music & pretty surroundings is all you really need for a good night! The venue is decorated head to toe in neon lights and there’s loads of quirky ornaments scattered about! The Sailor Jerry theme runs strong throughout the venue but the main focus, of course, is the bar! I tried my very first…

  • Say hello to Gin Bothy!

The industry has been on a rapid incline in recent history & with 70% of all gin consumed being produced in Scotland it does make you feel kind of proud! One of these producers nestled away in the Angus Glen is Gin Bothy. Scottish gin & jam produced in a historic Scottish bothy, I don’t think you can get more Scottish! I was invited to try out some of the gins at the launch of the new miniatures gift set (perfect for those wishing to have a taste of everything!). So, what is Gin Bothy all about? A bothy is a historic stone shelter often used in agriculture; you can…

  • Is character dining in Disneyland Paris worth it?

The amount of people that warned me about how expensive everything in Disneyland was astronomical! But you can’t put a price on magic can you? When I visited this year I knew that I was going to book a character meal because I’m an overgrown child. I opted for booking Auberge De Cendrillon in Fantasyland as there wasn’t a huge price difference between a buffet & the sit down meal. Oh & I desperately wanted to meet the princesses!  To begin we had mocktails & cheese gougeres. At this point in the day I was starved so these little canapés went down a treat! The bread was unfortunately a little…

  • Keeping it in the Southside! Black Dove’s gotta new menu!

The Black Dove is situated right in the middle of Shawlands & aims to ‘put Shawlands back on the map with great drink, better food and fantastic customers!’. I’m a sucker for good food in the Southside so I was excited to attend their bloggers night to taste some of the menu! I walked into the restaurant hopeful that I had found a new local with cheap drinks & tasty food at a reasonable price. First on the tasting menu was a pork belly Scotch egg with chorizo jam & apple salad. Firstly, I’ll admit, I’ve only ever tried a Scotch egg once & it was from a packet!!! (Send…

  • Darnley’s Gin Event: Wine pairing is over, it’s all about the gin!

Gin seems to be a recurring theme for me in reviews, tastings & in general life. I was invited to The Spiritualist for a gin pairing meal, two of my favourite things in the world, gin & food! I had never visited The Spiritualist before but had heard good things about their cocktails. I was greeted with their special creation for Darnley’s, ‘A View of the Port’. This tasty beverage contained Darnley’s Spiced Gin, Ruby Port, fresh lemon juice, homemade cinnamon syrup & cranberry & orange shrub relish. Hello, gin cocktails! (Darnley’s Gin) The tasting meal was spread over three courses with some gin to try neat then a pairing…
